Unique Wedding Venues in NYC
As a bandleader in New York City, I sometimes get venue amnesia. I perform at over 70 weddings and private events per year and I have seen some amazing wedding venues with unique atmospheres in NYC.
Some of the most memorable venues I have sung in include:
The Rainbow Room
By far, the most breathtaking venue in New York! Fleur Seule has performed at the Rainbow Room for jazz brunch, corporate parties, weddings, private events, and ballroom dances. You cannot beat the view from the Top of the Rock, as you gaze out over the city. Whether sunny or cloudy, you can take amazing pictures in the dining room, or walk over to Bar 65 with a wraparound balcony view. From the staff, to the food, to the rotating dance floor (yes, they still have it!) this historic, art deco venue is the perfect venue to host a Roaring Twenties Gatsby Party or Wedding. Our vintage jazz band adds the perfect sound and look to take you back in time to the days of Old Hollywood.
Tavern on the Green
The most iconic venue by Central Park, this restaurant has been featured in dozens of movies and tv shows because it captures Old New York. Fleur Seule is the house band for Tavern on the Green and has been playing jazz year round since their reopening in 2014. The rustic, vintage architecture of its original 1930s existence was maintained and creates a beautifully modern, elegant spot that has classic charm and style. Their courtyard is magnificent in the summer and they also have an event space, Bar Room, and South Wing to choose from when hosting your special day. The food is classic American and attracts local New Yorkers and visitors alike.
Rare Books Room in Strand Bookstore
We performed for a musical couple in this hidden gem off of Union Square. They wanted simple elegance with our jazz music and the venue, while revealing their playful side: Chik-Fil-A dinner and Cotton Candy for dessert! It was a great way to satisfy the younger wedding guests, and the “to-go” dinner style allowed the adults to dance to Fleur Seule all night. For the wallflowers, they could explore the incredible collection of books throughout the room, which comfortably hosted 150 people.
Museum of the City of New York
I performed at an epic wedding in this art deco venue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. With a beautiful patio and courtyard for ceremony, terrace for cocktails, rotunda for dancing to a large band, and Marble Court upstairs to dine by singer and pianist, you can move guests throughout the space and change the atmosphere with each location. Not only can they enjoy the galleries of New York City history, but they will appreciate the grand architecture of the historic building. The rotunda can host a full band with plenty of room for first dances, the Horah, and whatever else you have envisioned for your perfect wedding reception.
Mohonk Mountain House
Technically outside NYC (a short drive to New Paltz) but frequented by New Yorkers looking for a getaway from the hustle of the city. Mohonk was a family mansion created by the Smiley family as a summer vacation spot, and since the 1800s, the family has been expanding their 84 mile property to include jaw-dropping views, incredible dining experiences, and a year round music program. The house hosts guests year-round and offers activities of the season, from ice skating and carriage rides, to swimming in the lake and hiking miles of trails. Their menu is locally sourced and you will never leave hungry. Not only do they have beautifully maintained, historic rooms for receptions, but miles of outdoor grounds that are ideal for a spring or summer wedding.
